What is the Diabetes Coalition of California (DCC)?

The Diabetes Coalition of California (DCC) is an independent, volunteer organization consisting of individuals and agencies dedicated to the prevention, recognition, and reduction of the adverse personal and public impact of diabetes in the state’s diverse communities.


Why is the DCC important?

The DCC is the only statewide coalition in California focused on diabetes.


How is the DCC governed?

The DCC is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, which has a Board of Directors that provide leadership and follow by-laws.


Who can join the DCC?

Our members include professionals such as clinicians, health educators, policy experts, community advocates, as well as concerned citizens interested in the fight against diabetes. We welcome anyone who wishes to help us reach our mission to prevent diabetes and its complications in California’s diverse communities.


Are there membership dues?

No, membership in the DCC is free.  However, as a 501(c)(3), the DCC welcomes your tax-deductible donation which can be made via our PayPal Donate Link on the “About Us” page on our website.


What are the benefits of becoming a member of the DCC?

You will receive our quarterly email newsletter and updates to keep you up to date on diabetes in California.  There will be an opportunity to attend our annual meeting.  You may also wish to join one of our committees that work on projects aimed at accomplishing our mission.  The DCC is a great opportunity to network, collaborate and share with passionate leaders and concerned citizens in the fight against diabetes.

How much time is required of committee members?

Most committees meet monthly by phone for about one hour. There may be some assignments or activities that require additional time during the month.


How do I join a committee?

If you are interested in joining a DCC committee, contact the committee chair via email to let them know of your interest.  The current chairs are listed on our website under the “Get Involved” tab.


How do I become a member?

Log onto the DCC website and choose the “Get Involved” tab to be directed to the membership application form.  Once completed, we will add you to our list to receive newsletters and important updates via email.  It’s as simple as that!
